Day 1 D

Brisbane – Millmerran – Toowoomba
This tour offers country hospitality at its best. After meeting our fellow travellers, we take a relaxing drive through the Lockyer Valley to the top of the range. Enjoy morning tea en route before travelling directly to Millmerran to experience the unique Australian Camp Oven Festival. This event gives you an opportunity to catch a snippet of a time gone by in rural Australia. As you wander around, you can sample some of what is on offer and purchase your own lunch today. Watch damper throwing or billy boiling competitions, view the horse shoeing and sheep shearing demonstrations or just sit back and enjoy the country music. There are stalls which sell an array of goods including food (the camp oven dinners are always popular), wine, clothes, leather-wear, bric-a-brac, cookbooks and assorted implements giving you the opportunity to take a little something of the festival back home with you. Travel back to Toowoomba for your overnight stay. (D)

Day 2 B, L

Toowoomba – Brisbane
With a later start today, our first stop will be at the Highfields Pioneer Village. The village covers an area of 20 acres and within the picturesque grounds there are over 50 buildings. You will find everything in working order, including the 1912 Marshall Portable Steam Engine which is used to drive the vintage machinery on special days. See what life was like for the pioneers of the Darling Downs as you take a guided tour wandering through the faithfully restored buildings and then enjoy some traditional billy tea and damper for morning tea. To make life even more enjoyable, we will visit the Chocolate Cottage which has an extensive range of lollies and 60 different varieties of handmade chocolates from traditional favourites to quirky novelties. After lunch at Highfields Tavern, it’s time to head back to Brisbane where on arrival, your crew will have your transfers arranged.
