Easter Bright

Day 1 L, D

Home - Melbourne - Bright
After your early morning flight to Melbourne, travel through magnificent contrasting scenery via Whittlesea and Yea. Stop for lunch before continuing through quaint little townships with tree lined streets and awe inspiring mountain top views, arriving into the beautiful Ovens Valley. Settle into our accommodation for the next five nights.

Day 2 B, L, D

Tallangatta - Dartmouth - Yackandandah
After waking up in the clean mountain air we set off to visit part of the Alpine National Park. Travel via Tawonga before stopping in Tallangatta for a welcome cuppa. Next, enjoy the very scenic drive beside the Mitta Mitta River, taking you to Dartmouth Alpine Retreat for lunch. The return journey takes you for a visit to the National Trust town of Yackandandah, one of Australia's prettiest villages, with avenues of English trees and featuring many well preserved buildings. Our journey back to Bright takes us through Myrtleford and the world renowned Phoenix Tree which was carved out of the trunk and roots of a huge river red gum tree by sculptor Hans Knorr.

Day 3 B, L, D

Mount Buffalo - Brown Bros - Milawa Mustards
Travel to Mt Buffalo where spectacular alpine scenery, stunning wildflowers, sheer cliffs and amazing rock formations all nestle amongst the forest of mountain ash and snow gums. Continue on to the Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm, where you will enjoy Iunch and an informative historical talk covering the deer farm, local farming in the valley and deer farming operations. Visit the renowned Brown Brothers Winery and Milawa Mustard Shop before returning to our motel to freshen up before dinner.

Day 4 B, D

Bright - Easter Sunday
After breakfast, arrangements have been made for those wishing to attend an Easter Church Service. Alternatively, the morning is free for you to relax and take in the beauty that surrounds. Later we will travel to Bright for some free time where you will have time to stroll along the banks of the Ovens River, or visit some of Bright's attractions such as the Bright Brewery or the local Art Gallery. Purchase your own lunch today at one of the many cafes and restaurants showcasing the local produce. This afternoon visit the Bright Historical Museum for a tour of this great collection which covers the railway history, gold mining history and the social history of the area.

Day 5 B, L, D

Mount Beauty - Falls Creek
Today we travel to another part of Victoria's famous High Country. Visit Mt Beauty, nestled at the foot of Mt Bogong, which is Victoria's highest peak. Continue on to the Falls Creek area, originally known as Horseshoe Creek. Hear about the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme at the Alpine Tourist Information Centre before making our way back to Bright via the junction of the Ovens River and Morses Creek.

Day 6 B, L

Bright - Melbourne - Home
As your tour of the Bright region comes to a close, sit back and relax as we make our way to the Benalla Botanic Gardens for morning tea. Enjoy some free time to wander the garden where extensive lawns sweep down to Lake Benalla. Continue heading south, stopping for lunch in Seymour, before making our way to Melbourne Airport for your flight home.
