Day 1 L, D

Home - Guyra
Departing the Hunter after morning tea we will travel north with a picnic lunch in Gloucester. From here we climb over 3,000 feet to the New England Tablelands, arriving at top of the range in Guyra.

Day 2 B, L, D

Guyra – Rudd’s Pub – Miles
Today’s journey continues across the border into Queensland. Brisbane passengers will meet us for lunch, as we’re reminded of Dad and Dave at Rudd’s Pub, made famous by the 1937 radio serial. After lunch, continue through Dalby to Miles.

Day 3 B, L, D

Miles – Carnarvon Gorge
This morning we make our way to the spectacular Carnarvon Gorge. Enjoy lunch before checking in for the next three nights at the Wilderness Lodge. Surrounded by green lawns and shaded by ancient macrozamias and tall gums, each unique timber and canvas safari cabin (serviced daily) has a carpeted floor and ensuite. Cabins are spacious and airy, with screened windows, fridge, solid pine furniture, heaters, tea and coffee facilities and a shaded timber deck with easy chairs. The main building contains the guest lounge, dining room, library, store and souvenir shop. Choose from a variety of guided walks, self-guided walks and activities to suit all levels of fitness. At night, star gaze with an unimpeded view of the southern skies and sleep in the silence of the bush.

Day 4 B, L, D

Carnarvon Gorge
Today is free for you to enjoy the sheer wonder of Carnarvon Gorge National Park. Choose from a variety of guided walks, self-guided walks and activities to suit all levels of fitness. This morning you may join a half day guided walk to Moss Garden—a natural display of ferns feeding on water seeping from the mossy cliffs.

Day 5 B, L, D

Carnarvon Gorge
Again you will wake to a dawn chorus from the melodic birdlife and have the opportunity to watch grey and pretty-faced wallabies graze. Feeling relaxed in this oasis, today is set aside to enjoy more of the natural beauty of the area.

Day 6 B, L, D

Carnarvon Gorge – Big Rig – Roma
Today we travel to Roma. Following lunch, learn of the early history and discovery of oil, water and gas in the Maranoa district at the Big Rig display. Tonight we return to the Big Rig for the sound and light show of the early discoveries in the area which is sure to bring a lot of laughs.

Day 7 B, L, D

Roma – Drayton – Glen Innes
Follow the highway east via Chinchilla and on to Drayton for lunch. After lunch, Brisbane passengers will head east towards home, while New South Wales passengers will continue into Glen Innes for the night.

Day 8 B, L

Glen Innes – Thornton
Today’s scenery will be a suitable ending to a tour featuring some fantastic natural sights. Travel the breathtaking Thunderbolts Way through the Northern Tablelands, descending into Gloucester for lunch. Arrive in the Hunter mid afternoon.
