Day 2 B, L, D
This morning we head to Quarantine Bay and Whistler Point and then on to Yellow Rock Beach where the endless sandy beach and rolling swells reflect a sense of freedom. From here you can look out to Christmas and New Year Islands. There will be time to see the Shannon Wreck for those able to do the walk. Next we journey to Cape Wickham, the most northerly point of King Island, where from here it is 90km to Cape Otway on the Australian mainland. We will have morning tea and enjoy the impressive views from the area where Wickham Lighthouse stands. Made from locally quarried stone, the lighthouse stands 48m tall and is both the tallest in Australia, and the Southern Hemisphere. Continue on to a rare perched lake found in only three locations in the world-Pennys Lagoon where we will have lunch. Later, visit the famous King Island Dairy before returning to your motel late afternoon.
Day 3 B, L, D
Today we travel to Naracoopa, a small settlement on the east coast where we will stop for morning tea. Visit the old mining town of Grassy for lunch and have the opportunity to see a disused Scheelite mine site and Kelp Craft where decorative hats, figurines and animals are made out of the local bull kelp, a craft now mastered on King Island. Continuing along the western coastline, we will see Ettrick Bay and the Calcified Forest. Take in the huge cliffs at Seal Rocks, one of the most spectacular areas on King Island before touring to the scenic southern end of the island, visiting the Electrical Generating Wind Farm which has been built in the area known as the Roaring 40's-the prevailing westerly winds are a world class wind asset. After dinner, travel to Grassy to view the Penguin Parade. Return to your motel late this evening.
Day 4 B
