Day 1

Thornton - Merriwa - Mudgee
Travel the Golden Highway to Merriwa where we have lunch and take some time to wander the historic Town Walk. See the magnificent artwork depicted on the GrainCorp silo, which is part of the Australian Silo Art Trail, before making our way to Mudgee where we will settle in for the next 4 nights.

Day 2

Rylstone - Kandos - Sofala - Hill End
Today our journey takes us to Lake Windamere, Rylstone, Kandos, Sofala and Hill End. Discover historic buildings and architecture and learn some of the history of the region. In Rylstone visit The Cottage Museum and for those adventurous spirits, take The Heritage Walk. At Sofala (Australia's oldest surviving gold mining town) a local guide will share some of the pioneer stories of the town. Return to Mudgee for dinner.

Day 3

Gulgong Memories
Travel to the 19th-century gold rush town of Gulgong, and home to the famous writer, Henry Lawson. Enjoy a locally guided town tour and visits to the Henry Lawson Centre, Gulgong Holtermann Museum, before some freetime. Enjoy lunch before experiencing the Gulgong Gold Centre. We'll take a leisurely scenic trip back to Mudgee for Dinner.

Day 4

Mudgee Day
Today we truly get to see, hear and taste Mudgee. We embark on our morning with a guided driving tour of the town, followed by a visit to the Colonial Museum to get a sense of what makes Mudgee. We visit a new venue, "Gorree Park" where one of Mudgee's historic properties is renowned both as a world class thoroughbred horse stud and as the largest vineyard in the district, is also responsible for crafting the thoroughbred of wines. Enjoy a Gourmet BBQ lunch, stud tour and wine tasting. This afternoon return to Mudgee for some tastings at the famous Mudgee Brewery. Time to freshen up then enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 5

Mudgee - Thornton
Our journey home takes us via the scenic Bylong Valley Way to Denman, a small town with the true charm of yesteryear. Enjoy a picnic lunch before making our way back to The Hunter, arriving late afternoon.
