This tour will take you to a picturesque slice of Australia, as we traverse part of the Snowy Valleys Way. Travel from Canberra, through Kosciuszko National Park in the Snowy Mountains, ascend the Alpine Way from Jindabyne to Thredbo Village and visit towns such as Khancoban, Tumbarumba and Tumut. Our journey then takes us to Victoria’s 4th largest city – Bendigo, to explore its historic tramways, pottery and Chinese Museum before concluding our tour in Melbourne.

Day 1

Home - Canberra - Jindabyne
After your flight to Canberra, enjoy lunch together with your crew before we make our way to Cooma. Visit the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre where an informative film provides an insight into the incredible story behind the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme. This state-of-the-art visitor facility tells the story from the early construction days, to the role the scheme plays today in the continuing development and growth of Australia. This afternoon, arrive in Jindabyne for our overnight stay.

Day 2

Jindabyne - Tumbarumba
This morning a visit to the Snowy Region Visitor Information Centre brings the area to life. Later, ride the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift up Crackenback to experience the amazing view of Thredbo (weather permitting). Be sure to bring a beanie and warm jacket for this exciting ride as the weather can change quickly. This afternoon travel along the Alpine Way through picturesque mountain valleys, sweeping views and unending vistas linking Jindabyne to Khancoban near the Victorian border, settling in for the two nights in Tumbarumba.

Day 3

Tumbarumba
After breakfast, sit back and relax as we travel the Snowy Valleys Way through scenic dairy farming country before a visit to Blowing Dam on the Tumut River and Tumut Valley Violets. Following lunch we stop in Adelong with its historic main street. Visit the Adelong Alive Museum where you will learn of the importance of gold to the town before a guided tour of the town and the gold ruins.

Day 4

Tumbarumba - Wodonga
Today we visit the Pioneer Women's Hut at Glenroy Heritage Reserve. Cleverly themed, it reflects the ingenuity of women in finding solutions to the challenges of looking after a family in early rural Australia. Relax and enjoy a Devonshire Tea before heading to Holbrook Submarine Museum where a guided tour will tell the story of how the HMAS Otway's final resting spot came to be in the middle of rural NSW. Stop for lunch at the award winning Submarine Café before making our way to Wodonga for our overnight stay.

Day 5

Wodonga - Bendigo
Our journey today takes us via Wangaratta, Benalla, Violet Town, Murchison and Rushworth before arriving in the historic town of Bendigo. Visit Bendigo Pottery with time to browse the shop before lunch in the café. Next stop is the Bendigo Tram Depot where a high proportion of the world's surviving operable Birney tram cars are on display. Take a tour on board a lovingly restored, vintage Talking Tram before discovering the magnificent display of historic Chinese processional costumes and regalia from the late 1880's at the Golden Dragon Museum.

Day 6

Bendigo - Melbourne - Home
Today our journey takes us through Castlemaine and Daylesford, located within a region that contains Australia's largest concentration of natural mineral springs. Continue on to Trentham for a visit to The Convent Gallery which was built high on the hill to be closer to God and overlooks the Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens. Enjoy a guided tour of the galleries followed by Devonshire morning tea. Travel on to Melbourne, stopping for lunch before boarding your flight home.
