Board the worlds first Solar Powered Train at Byron Bay for a journey along the beautiful coastline, and take in the impeccable views from Cape Bryon Lighthouse and the Tree Top Walk overlooking the Gold Coast Hinterland. Day 1 L, D
Home - Bago - Coffs Harbour
Departing the Central Coast and Hunter, with morning tea at Thornton. Heading north on the Pacific Hwy we will arrive at the the boutique family owned and run Bago Winery for a picnic lunch in the grounds overlooking the vineyard. Late afternoon arrive in Coffs Harbour for our overnight stay.
Day 2 B, L, D
Coffs Harbour - Currumbin - Gold Coast
Today our QLD friends join us for the next three days of touring starting at The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Iconic to the Gold Coast and first established in 1947, it's a must do when holidaying in the area. Our visit today will bring back memories but more importantly highlight the valuable conservation work that this park is performing with native animals. A sit down lunch will be served in the function centre with more touring and keeper talks from Lorikeets, Birds of Prey and big crocs. This afternoon unpack and take the opportunity to have a stroll on along the Oceanway or along the Tweed River Bank.
Day 3 B
Brtunswick Heads Cruise and Byron Bay
Our destination being the Cape Byron Marine Park, added to the NSW reserves in 2002 and covering an area of 200km, our day starts on the Brunswick River for ecosystem cruise, see diverse birdlife such as the “little tern” and “Beach Stone Curlew” keep your eyes peeled for the Loggerhead, and Green turtle as our boast passes by the mangroves. Morning tea will be served with commentary of the area. Free time for lunch in Byron Bay, before photo opportunities from Cape Byron Lighthouse the most easterly point in Australia. All aboard for a ride on the worlds first solar powered train, opened in 2017 this service provides a 3km service from the town to the beaches.
Day 4 B, L, D
Gold Coast - Mt Tamborine - Grafton
Our journey today takes us into the Gold Coast Hinterland, to Mount Tamborine. Visit the Tamborine Forest Skywalk, which provides a bird’s eye view of the area. Continue on to Cedar Creek Winery for a guided tour through the purpose built magical glow worm cave and enjoy a wine tasting and hearty lunch before taking a stroll along Gallery Walk. This afternoon, our Queensland passengers will begin their journey back to Brisbane, where their transfers home will be arranged. Southern passengers will travel on to Grafton for their overnight stay.
Day 5 B, L
Grafton - Kew - Home
Travel south to Urunga on the mouth of the Kalang River before continuing on to Kew for lunch. Enjoy afternoon tea on the waters edge at Karuah before arriving back to the Hunter and Central Coast late afternoon.
