Day 1

" Home - Melbourne - Wangaratta
Your tour begins with a flight to Melbourne where our crew will be waiting to welcome you onboard. Travel north to Seymour, a town on the southern end of the Goulburn Valley, where we will enjoy lunch before making a stop at the Vietnam War Memorial to see the Wall which includes the names of and tributes to our courageous Vietnam Veterans. Later our journey continues on via Benalla before arriving in Wangaratta where we will settle in for the next five nights.

Day 2

Rutherglen
Today, a local guide will introduce us to historical Rutherglen, now famous for its wines and fresh produce. Purchase your own lunch and take time to wander the streetscapes of Rutherglen to view the ornate period buildings. This afternoon, discover some of the region's famous produce during a visit to All Saints Estate and Corowa Whisky and Chocolate. Later, you will be transported back over 100 years to witness the events that led up to the capture of the Kelly Gang, through the brilliance of animation and computerised robots, during a visit to the Glenrowan Tourist Centre. Return to our hotel to freshen up before dinner.

Day 3

Wangaratta - Yackandandah - Wangaratta
This morning we make our way to Yackandandah. Step over the original bluestone gutters and see the elaborate façades. Nestled in a secluded valley and surrounded by towering mountains, the town is renowned as being home to many artists. At Sluga Gallery, admire the impressive works of renowned contemporary watercolour artist Charles Sluga. Visit Schmidt's, a long established unique Strawberry Winery using traditional family methods to create strawberry wines and liqueurs.

Day 4

Wangaratta - Beechworth - Wangaratta
After breakfast, be sure to have your comfortable walking shoes and hat on, as it's time to begin our discovery of an area built on the splendour of the early gold rush days. Beechworth is recognised as Australia's best preserved 19th century gold mining town and features many stately buildings. Take a guided town tour before visiting the Burke Museum, the Telegraph Station, the Sub Treasury building, the Forestry Heritage Museum and the Courthouse where bushranger Ned Kelly, his family and gang appeared on multiple occasions. Enjoy lunch at the famous Beechworth Bakery before making our way back to our accommodation for dinner.

Day 5

Wangaratta - Chiltern - El Dorado - Wangaratta
Today we travel to Chiltern, a fascinating village where you will experience the nostalgia of the past. Enjoy a guided tour of this quaint township with its carefully preserved streetscapes and historic brick buildings. See the famous grapevine which was planted in 1867 and is the largest vine in the Southern Hemisphere before visiting the Eldorado Museum which holds a collection that reflects the life and times from 1850 to 1950. The display covers mining, farming and social history of Eldorado and its surrounds, and is housed in the old school building built in 1870.

Day 6

Wangaratta - Taylors Lakes - Home
After breakfast, it's time to bid a fond farewell to our hosts and journey back into Melbourne. Enjoy lunch before transferring to Melbourne Airport where our staff will assist with your check in, ready for your flight home.
