Day 1
Home - Singleton - Tamworth
Our Queensland passengers will begin with a flight to Newcastle, before joining our Hunter passengers to travel to Singleton for lunch. The Australian Silo art movement is growing exponentially in our regional areas throughout Australia. It isn't just a beautiful addition to the local landscape; but for many towns and communities it's a lifeline and an important way to promote tourism and bring the travellers dollars to Regional Australia. This afternoon visit the Quirindi Silo before continuing on to Tamworth for our overnight stay.
Day 2
Tamworth - Coonabarabran
Following breakfast, travel to see the Barraba Silos, painted by Sydney Artist Fintan Mage and titled, "The Water Diviner". Our journey then takes us to Gunnedah to see the artwork painted on the exterior of the Gunnedah Military Water Tower Museum. This stunning mural pays tribute to Vietnam Veterans and was opened on Anzac Day 2019. Gunnedah also features silo artwork featuring the Australian poet Dorothea Mackellar. Take time to purchase your own lunch before continuing on to Coonabarabran for your overnight stay.
Day 3
Coonabarabran - West Wyalong
Farewell Coonabarabran and travel along the Golden Highway to Dunedoo. See the Dunedoo Silos portraying local jockey Hugh Bowman with the mighty Winx. Continue on to Wellington for a cuppa before stopping in Molong and Manildra to see the water tank art and enjoy a picnic lunch. This afternoon we will visit the Grenfell Silos before arriving in West Wyalong for our overnight stay.
Day 4
West Wyalong - Wagga Wagga
The first silo in NSW was painted by renowned Melbourne based street artist Heesco, as a tribute to the rich agricultural heritage of the community of Weethalle and surrounding Bland Shire communities. Purchase your own morning tea before continuing on to Narrandera and Lockhart. See the Lockhart Water Tower Mural and visit the Doris Golder Wool Art Gallery, which displays 26 portraits that have been constructed using naturally coloured sheep wool. Travel to Wagga Wagga for our overnight stay.
Day 5
Wagga Wagga - Lithgow
This morning before departing Wagga Wagga, visit Willans Hill Water Reservoir, depicting a mural about the actual use, function and safety of local water. Travel on to Cootamundra for a cuppa before visiting another of Heesco's silo murals in Harden. Continue on to Cowra, where you will have opportunity purchase your own lunch before heading to Portland in the Blue Mountains. See the silos known as 'The Foundations', portraying the images of past workers of the now unused Portland Cement Works prior to arriving in Lithgow.
Day 6
