Wander through this tropical paradise and marvel at the tranquil Japanese Gardens, Murray Lagoon Fauna Sanctuary and the Hugo Lassen Fernery. Continue on to the spectacular Capricorn Caves, where during your guided tour of Cathedral Cave, you will discover ancient stalactites, rare ferns and the natural acoustics which have made these caves a popular venue for weddings and underground opera. After a light lunch, take a step back in time during a guided tour of the Rockhampton Heritage Village before settling into our accommodation for the next four nights.
Day 3
Great Keppel Island
This morning we travel by ferry to Great Keppel Island. Enjoy morning tea before heading out in the glass bottom boat for a coral viewing tour with expert commentary. For those keen to explore the underwater world up close, there will be opportunity to go snorkelling. Late afternoon we will return back to the mainland.
Day 4
Koorana Crocodile Farm – Emu Park
Today you will be visiting a very different ‘farm’. The Koorana Crocodile Farm was the first commercial crocodile farm in Queensland, opened in 1981 with crocodiles captured from the wild that were proving to be a danger to people. After lunch, travel back via Emu Park to see the famous Singing Ship memorial to Captain James Cook. The "singing" occurs when the wind vibrates a series of cables with attached pipes of varying diameter – a sound that will be long remembered.
Day 5
