Day 1
Home - Renmark
Fly into Adelaide where you will board your coach before making our way to the Barossa Valley. Travel via Tanunda, Nuriootpa and as we pass through Blanchetown, on the majestic Murray River, view Loch 1. Arrive into Renmark, the heart of the oldest irrigation area in Australia, for our overnight stay.
Day 2
Renmark - Mildura
Travel the Sturt Highway into Victoria arriving in Mildura. In days past, the Murray was one of Australia's greatest trading routes and there is nothing that evokes that bygone era better than an historical cruise aboard the Paddlesteamer Melbourne.
Day 3
Mildura
Visit the Australian Inland Botanic Gardens, planted in 1991. It has now reached an international standard which reflects the dedication of the surrounding community to achieve this in such arid conditions. Just over the Murray Riverin Buronga, visit a olive grove where we will take a tour of the grove and processing facility. After working up your appetite, enjoy lunch before continuing on to Trentham Estate Winery where the cellar door will be open for a tasting.
Day 4
Mungo National Park
Travel north from Mildura towards Mungo National Park, part of the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area and traditional country of many aboriginal tribes. The dunes at 'Mungo' are known as the 'Walls of China'. Be in awe at the massive red river gums and explore the original timber woolshed. A local guide will give a greater understanding of the significance of the entire. Murray Outback Region and what it means to the indigenous inhabitants and the immense pride they have in the history of their people.
Day 5
Mildura - Griffith
Farewell Mildura and traverse the Sturt Highway to another border town on the Murray - Robinvale. This small town is almost surrounded by the twists and turns of the Murray River and the land is ideal for the production of dried fruit and wine grapes. The next part of our journey takes us into wool, cattle, wheat and timber country as we travel to Balranald, situated on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. Continue on via Hay before arriving in Griffith.
Day 6
Griffith - Dubbo
Journey via Bilbul and Barellan, with opportunity to see the tennis courts which started Evonne Goolagong on her mission to become one of the world's top players. Continue on through Ardlethan,the small rural town that claims to be the birthplace of the Kelpie Sheep Dog and see the bronze statuethe community has erected to celebrate the fact. Travel via West Wyalong to Parkes for lunch before visiting the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope Visitors Centre. This afternoon, make our way to Dubbo for our overnight stay.
Day 7
Dubbo - Goondiwindi
Depart the 'Queen City of the Golden West' and travel on to Gilgandra. Further north, see Coonabarabran before our journey takes us through the Pilliga into Namoi country. Purchase you own lunch before crossing the border into Queensland and arriving in Goondiwindi.
Day 8
Goondiwindi - Home
Travel through the Southern Downs via Inglewood and on to Warwick for lunch. This afternoon, arrive into Brisbane where our New South Wales friends will fly home and transfers will be arranged for our Brisbane travellers.
