Day 1
Brisbane - Canberra
Your tour begins with a flight to Canberra before making our way to Cowra, stopping for lunch along the way. This afternoon, visit the Visitor Information Centre and the POW Hologram Theatre. With a local guide on board, we will learn about the 1944 Cowra Breakout, and visit the Prisoner of War Camp, War Cemetery and Australia's Peace Bell. Settle into our accommodation with time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 2
Cowra - Bathurst
After breakfast, visit the Cowra Japanese Gardens, the largest Japanese garden in the Southern Hemisphere. Take a guided walk discovering and exploring the many aspects of Japanese landscape and garden design. Continue on to Carcoar, laying claim to the most intact historical village in Australia, often chosen by filmmakers as the perfect period setting. Travelling via Carcoar Dam we will see the Blayney Wind Farm, the largest of its type in Australia. Blayney is another beautifully preserved, classic gold-rush town. With some free time, you can explore the main street with its National Trust classified historic buildings. Late afternoon, arrive in Bathurst to settle in for the next three nights.
Day 3
Bathurst Day
Bathurst is a city of contrasts, boasting heritage listed buildings and world class museums and galleries. The city is Internationally renowned for the Mount Panorama race track and this morning we will do a lap of the Bathurst 1000 circuit before browsing the displays at the National Motor Racing Museum which celebrates the rich history of Australian Motor Sport. Discover more of the area during a locally guided tour and visit Abercrombie House, the original residence of the Stewart family, one of Bathurst's pioneering families.
Day 4
Bathurst - Oberon
Our journey today takes us to the cold climate town of Oberon, for a visit to Mayfield Gardens. Explore hidden gems across 16-hectares, from the 13 metre tall Obelisk, behind the waterfall to the Grotto and everything in between. The numerous pathways are designed to be explored, with many nooks-and-crannies to discover. Enjoy lunch before returning to Bathurst.
Day 5
Bathurst - Katoomba - Blackheath
It is time to farewell Bathurst as we make our way to Katoomba where there will be time to purchase your own morning tea. Included today is an Ultimate Discovery Pass at the iconic Scenic World, where you can explore the Jamison Valley and the Blue Mountains Escarpment from a range of perspectives. Perhaps ride the Skyway, with its Electro-Scenic glass floor - at the flip of a switch, breathtaking views are revealed through the cabin floor. You can also ride the Cableway into World Heritage-listed rainforest and follow the walkway to the base of the Scenic Railway for your return. This afternoon enjoy a lunch that will have you reflecting back to a bygone era in the town of Leura before viewing the iconic Three Sisters at Echo Point.
Day 6
Blackheath - Brisbane
This morning, stop at Govetts Leap Lookout and Wentworth Falls before departing the Blue Mountains and descending to Faulconbridge for morning tea. Take a guided tour of the Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum, the home of the Magic Pudding. Enjoy lunch before making our way to Sydney Airport where our crew will assist with checking in our Queensland passengers, ready for their flight back to Brisbane, prior to travelling back to The Hunter, where transfers will be arranged.
