Day 1

Home - Rockhampton
After transferring to the airport, you will meet your fellow travellers as we prepare for an afternoon flight to the regional city of Rockhampton, located on the Fitzroy River. On arrival, your Coach Captain and Hostess will welcome you onboard, before settling in to our accommodation for the next two nights.


Day 2

This morning enjoy a town tour of Rockhampton. Take in the view from the famous Singing Ship at Emu Park that sits in a very scenic environment before a visit to Capricorn Caves. This afternoon, soak up the tropical Queensland climate during a visit to the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens and Zoo. In the zoo you will find more than 70 species of native animals from across Australia, exotic animals from around the world, tropical rainforests and outback Australia exhibits.

Day 3

Rockhampton - Sarina - Eungella
After breakfast depart Rockhampton and travel through Marlborough and Clairview before arriving in Sarina. Nestled in the foothills of the Connor's Ranges, this busy rural town is known for its sugar and dairy industries. Following lunch, visit the Sarina Sugar Shed with its authentic miniature sugar processing machinery which has been sourced from all over the world - a truly unique experience. This afternoon, we travel into the heart of the Pioneer Valley to the town of Eungella (pronounced yun-galah) before settling in for the next 3 nights at the Broken River Resort, situated on the banks of the Broken River. This time of year can be quite cold in the early mornings and evenings, and the resort's log fireplace is sure to be a popular place to spend time with your fellow travellers.

Day 4

Wake to the tranquil surrounds of The Broken River Resort. Today we will travel back down the range to visit Finch Hatton Gorge, home to some very rare and unique flora and fauna such as the rare gastric-brooding frog and the orange sided skink. Enjoy lunch at Eungella Chalet, where you will never tire of the stunning views. Following lunch, explore this mountain top township before returning to the resort. This afternoon offers the opportunity to utilise some of the 20 kilometres of walking tracks in the area. Another must is the Eungella National Parks Tourist Information Office, located in the parklands across the river from the resort.

Day 5

Eungella Free Day
As you wake to the crisp mountain air in this beautiful area, you may choose to take the opportunity to explore before breakfast. One of the highlights of the Eungella National Park area is the shy wild Platypus, and word has it, Broken River is the most reliable place to see these mammals. Today is at leisure; take advantage of the resort facilities, sit back and relax, enjoy a short stroll into the adjacent National Park or, for the more adventurous, take one of the renowned walking trails. Lunch and dinner will be served at the resort. After dinner tonight, join a guide for a unique nocturnal guided walk.

Day 6

Eungella - Home
This morning with bags packed it's time to farewell this pristine area as we travel back through the Pioneer Valley. Stop at Marian to visit Melba House, which was originally built in 1882 and was also the home of Dame Nellie Melba for the first year of her married life. A beautiful array of photos, books and furniture of her time are on show. Continue on to Mackay Airport in preparation for your flight home, where on arrival your transfers will be arranged.
