Day 1

Home – Darwin
Your flight arrives into tropical Darwin early afternoon, where your crew will be waiting to greet you. Visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, overlooking Fannie Bay in Darwin Harbour. The museum features the history, science and visual art of the region and its people, housing what is regarded as some of the best Aboriginal paintings and artefacts in
the world. The complex also features a display depicting the experience and aftermath of Cyclone Tracy. Check into our accommodation before relaxing onboard a spectacular dinner cruise on Darwin Harbour. As the sun sets, watch the sky light up in magical colours reflecting off the water and showcasing the coastline of Darwin—a real highlight!

Day 2

Darwin – Katherine
Our journey takes us south to Litchfield National Park where you’ll have the opportunity to soak up the natural surroundings of the Top End and perhaps take a swim at the Wangi Falls—so don’t forget your swimwear. Continue on to the small settlement of Adelaide River, once the location for 30,000 Australian and American Soldiers in World War II. Stop for lunch at Adelaide River Inn, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, shady trees and well manicured lawns. Following lunch, continue on via Pine Creek, which first came to prominence during the building of the Overland Telegraph Line, before arriving in Katherine for our overnight stay.

Day 3

Katherine – Kununurra
A very early start is required today as you prepare to cross the border into Western Australia this afternoon. A break in the journey at Victoria River Roadhouse allows opportunity for you to purchase your own morning tea before continuing on to Timber Creek for lunch. The final leg of today’s journey crosses the border and into Kununurra where we will settle in for two nights.

Day 4

Bungle Bungles, Lake Argyle and Cruise
Before breakfast, enjoy a two hour flight over the Bungle Bungles, Argyle Diamond Mine and Lake Argyle. From an aircraft it is an imposing sight to see the fascinating geological landscape of this remote region. Return to the motel for a late breakfast. Travel to Lake Argyle Resort for lunch before cruising from Lake Argyle to Kununurra along the Ord River where you can view the spectacular scenery, birdlife and animals, noting the changing colours on your return journey.

Day 5

Kununurra – Emma Gorge – El Questro
Amid the vast and ancient landscape of Western Australia’s East Kimberley region sits the untamed natural beauty of El Questro, today’s destination. Our first stop is Zebedee Springs, so bring your swimmers along and enjoy a soak in the refreshing spring waters. Enjoy lunch at El Questro Station before taking to the water for an awe-inspiring cruise along Chamberlain Gorge. Nestled in the shadow of the fiery red cliffs of El Questro’s Cockburn Ranges sits Emma Gorge Resort where 60 luxury ensuited cabins blend seamlessly into the Australian wilderness, our overnight accommodation. Day 6

El Questro – Argyle Diamond Mine – Halls Creek
Leaving the beauty of El Questro behind we’ll head south for a visit to the Argyle Diamond Mine. Please note that closed-in footwear must be worn today. The Argyle Diamond Mine is the world’s largest supplier of diamonds and they are found in a range of colours, including white, champagne and their signature pink stone. Be tempted to indulge yourself when you visit the village store. See the various diamond extraction and processing stages and experience mine life with lunch at the mine workers mess. After lunch, we’ll travel through rugged countryside to Halls Creek in the heart of the Kimberley, on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert.

Day 7

Halls Creek – Derby
After breakfast journey to Fitzroy River Lodge situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River. Relax amongst the natural bush setting and landscaped gardens while enjoying lunch. This afternoon we’ll enjoy a cruise through Geikie Gorge, located in the majestic Napier Ranges. Take a walk along the banks of this beautiful waterway and learn of its fascinating history and view its distinct colourful walls scattered with ancient fossils, abundant wildlife and become immersed in its amazing scenery. Suitable clothing for protection from the sun is needed, as are good walking shoes, a hat and water bottle. The rugged wilderness continues through to Derby, a rich pastoral and mineral centre situated beside the waters of King Sound, where we will arrive later than usual for our overnight stay.

Day 8

Derby – Broome
Traverse the Great Northern Highway, passing the Prison Boab Tree, huge termite mounds and the Curtin Air Base. Stop for lunch at Roebuck Plains Roadhouse before continuing
on to Broome. Visit to the Malcolm Douglas Wilderness Wildlife Park before checking into our accommodation.

Broome Sightseeing
Today offers time to take optional tours and/or enjoy free time.
