Australia is seeing more and more artworks, sculptures and statues that depict the stories of regional areas. These artworks not only make a beautiful addition to the local landscape; but for many towns and communities, it provides a valuable lifeline, bringing travellers into the region. Join us as we journey from Brisbane to Canberra and discover some of the spectacular artworks and admire the skill required to create these unique displays.

Day 1

Brisbane - Goondiwindi
You will be welcomed on board as we make our way to Millmerran, to see the first of many artworks highlighted on this tour. See the five painted murals depicting the early days of the area before purchasing your own lunch in town. Continue on through Inglewood to Yelarbon to see the magnificent scene painted across eight Graincorp Silos. This afternoon, arrive in Goondiwindi to see the variety of sculptures, statues and artworks, prior to checking into our motel.

Day 2

Goondiwindi - Moree
This morning we continue our travels westward to Thallon, on the banks of the Moonie River. See the painted silo celebrating the diversity and icons of the area. The town has quite a collection of artworks with a painted water tank, mural and a series of statues also. Continue south for lunch in Mungindi, on the Queensland and New South Wales border, before continuing on to Moree. Discover the collection of murals throughout the area before settling in for our overnight stay.

Day 3

Moree - Gunnedah
After breakfast, travel to Barraba to see silos painted by artist Fintan Mage. Our journey continues on to Gunnedah, with time to purchase your own lunch in this busy commercial hub. The town also celebrates Dorothy Mackellar, the famous Australian poet, whose family lived in the region. Visit the MacKellar Centre before we discover the artwork at the Gunnedah Military Water Tower Museum. This stunning mural pays tribute to Vietnam Veterans and was opened on Anzac Day 2019. Gunnedah also features a sculpture park that provides views over the town and surrounding area.

Day 4

Gunnedah - Parkes
This morning we travel to Quirindi where the Graincorp Silo, completed in 2022, tells the story of the past, present and future of the Liverpool Plains region. Continue on to Scone for morning tea and see the sculptures that highlights the significance of the equine industry to the region. We then take the Golden Highway via Merriwa and Dunedoo to hear the stories behind each of these magnificent artworks. This afternoon, arrive in Parkes for our overnight stay.

Day 5

Parkes - West Wylong
Our journey today takes us to Eugowra to see the many murals throughout the town. We then make our way to Cowra to view the painted water tanks, one depicting the local indigenous community and the second depicting the POW camp and history of the town. Continue on to the Grenfell Silo, completed as a tribute to the local community and their support of the Grenfell commodities company. The artwork is a series of images which represents the contemporary farming industry and landscape of the Weddin Shire. After lunch, we travel to West Wylong, stopping to see the Caragalbal Bird Art mural along the way.

Day 6

West Wylong - Canberra - Brisbane
Today we visit the first painted silo in NSW. Painted by renowned Melbourne based street artist Heesco, it is a tribute to the rich agricultural heritage of the community of Weethalle and surrounding Bland Shire communities. Continue on via Temora to Harden for the last of the artworks to be seen on our tour. The Murrumburrah Mill Silo is painted all the way around; one of only a few like that in Australia. Continue on to Yass for lunch before arriving at Canberra Airport for your flight home.
