Day 1
Brisbane - Maryborough - Bundaberg
Today we travel north, passing the imposing Glasshouse Mountains, on our way to the heritage city of Maryborough. Admire the many early buildings that have been restored to their former glory before stopping for lunch. Take time to explore Maryborough's original port district, offering a range of museums and historical collections, and visit the beautiful Queens Park where there will be time to see the WWI Anzac Trail. Continue on through Childers to Bundaberg, home of Bundaberg Sugar, Bundaberg Rum and Bundaberg Ginger Beer.
Day 2
Lady Musgrave Island
Lady Musgrave Island is a 14 hectare coral cay on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Our full day Lady Musgrave experience will begin with a very early start, boarding our luxurious vessel - Reef Empress. Keep your eye on the water, as you never know what you will see along the way. Maybe spot some of the Great 8 - Whales, Turtles, Sharks, Clownfish, Giant Clams, Potato Cod, Rays and Maori Wrasse. Be sure to pack your swimwear and towel, good walking shoes, hat, "Reef Safe" sunscreen and water bottle. Our Lady Musgrave experience offers a range of activities both in and out of the water; snorkelling, glass bottom boat tours, guided island walks and so much more. Return to our motel for dinner where there will be time to reflect on the day.
Day 3
Bundaberg Day
Bundaberg is a thriving commercial centre with a lot to offer. Enjoy a day of discovery starting with a scenic drive to the beachfront communities of Elliott Heads and Bargara. We then return to Bundaberg for lunch in the Botanic Gardens Café before visiting Hinkler Hall of Aviation, where Bundaberg born Bert Hinkler's life and accomplishments are celebrated. And of course, no visit to Bundaberg would be complete without a visit to the Bundaberg Rum Distillery Companies Bondstore and the Bundaberg Barrel, where the focus is on the other Bundaberg brewed fruit drink range.
Day 4
Bundaberg - Brisbane
Today we farewell 'Bundy' and travel south, stopping off in Maryborough to enjoy morning tea amidst the roses. Visit the Story Bank, celebrating Mary Poppins and Maryborough's unique connection with P.L. Travers and her life, family, influences on her writings, and the retelling of her stories.
