Day 1
Home - Melbourne - Ballarat
After your flight into Melbourne, enjoy lunch before travelling to the Daylesford Botanic Gardens. This afternoon, continue on to Ballarat for our overnight stay.
Day 2
Ballarat - Ararat - Horsham
Travel to the Victorian gold rush town of Ararat for a visit to the Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre. After lunch, continue on to Horsham, and stop at the Regional Art Gallery. After a guided town tour of Horsham, settle into our overnight accommodation.
Day 3
Horsham - Silo Art Trail - Swan Hill
Today, prepare to see part of Australia's largest outdoor art gallery, as the old, decommissioned silos from eight country towns are brought to life through unique artworks painted on the curved canvas of the silos. Stretching over 380km between Horsham and Swan Hill, Australian and international artists have painstakingly painted people and scenes that have been attracting visitors to the area since 2015. Be impressed by the scale of these artworks as they reach to the sky before settling into our accommodation for the next two nights.
Day 4
Swan Hill - Lake Boga - Swan Hill
Between Swan Hill and Kerang on the shores of Lake Boga is the Flying Boat Museum, featuring a restored Catalina A24-30 flying boat commemorating those who served at the Repair Depot during World War II. Following a Devonshire morning tea, travel to the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement, a restored 19th century settlement. Purchase your own lunch from the working bakery, and enjoy a one hour cruise along the mighty Murray River on the historic paddlesteamer Pyap. After dinner, we return to the Pioneer Settlement to experience the 'Heartbeat of the Murray' Laser Light Show.
Day 5
Swan Hill - Melbourne - Home
Travel to Boort, north west of Bendigo. Where the late John Piccoli became known as 'The Spanner Man'. Visit the property where they were created, viewing more than 25 life size sculptures made entirely of antique and modern spanners welded together to create unique sculptures. The tallest sculpture, 'The Marlin' is over 7m tall, weighs 1,200kg and is made from 3,500 spanners. Arrive back in Melbourne for your afternoon flight home, where your transfers will be arranged.
