Day 1

Brisbane – Armidale
Your tour begins as we journey through the Granite Belt, crossing the border into the New England Plateau town of Tenterfield. This well-renowned country town has many historic buildings dating back to the mid-19th century and is surrounded by spectacular national parks. After lunch, continue via Glen Innes, Ben Lomond and Guyra before arriving for our overnight stay in Armidale.

Day 2

Armidale – Mudgee
Following breakfast, travel through Uralla and Moonbi before stopping in Tamworth. At Tamworth’s Golden Guitar Tourist Complex, view the wax museum’s 23 figures of country and western fame, before taking a break for morning tea. Continue on to Scone for lunch before arriving for our overnight stay in the historic town of Mudgee, renowned for its heritage streetscapes and charming old public buildings and grand old homes.

Day 3

Mudgee – Wagga Wagga
Today our journey will take us through the Central Tablelands and on to the south west slopes of New South Wales, an extensive area that surrounds the Great Dividing Range. Travel
through the Ilford district, named after the English founders of the small country town of the same name and on to Bathurst, Australia’s oldest inland town and home to the Mount Panorama racing circuit. Continue on via Young before stopping in the rural village of Wombat for a shed tour and lunch at Allambie Orchard, set on 63 acres and specialising in “pick your own cherries”. This afternoon, arrive in Wagga Wagga for our overnight stay.

Day 4

Wagga Wagga – Geelong
Today we continue our journey south, crossing into Victoria via the border towns of Albury/Wodonga. Follow the Hume Highway to Seymour on the banks of the Goulburn River, enjoying lunch at the Railway Club Hotel. Continue on to Geelong for our overnight stay. Admire the waterfront and some of the 100 bollards created out of huge wooden pylons. These bollards have been painstakingly hand painted to depict significant personalities in the history of Geelong; starting from the local Wathaurong People to contemporary characters.

Day 5

Geelong – Warrnambool
What better way to spend Christmas Eve than to travel the magnificent Great Ocean Road? The coast is a very rich dairy and agriculture area but is more famous for the rugged and beautiful cliffs that make up this famous coastline. The incredible pristine scenery includes the Twelve Apostles, the fallen London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge. There is no doubt that this is a photographer’s delight and for the very keen, there is opportunity to treat yourself to an early Christmas present by taking an optional scenic helicopter flight. Enjoy afternoon tea at Allansford Cheese World before settling in for 3 relaxing nights in Warrnambool. Late this evening, visit Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum to see “Shipwrecked!”, the state of the art sound and laser show. This show brings to life the tale of the Loch Ard, wrecked in 1878. You will be in awe of the spellbinding theatre that chronicles how Victoria’s western coastline gained its reputation as The Shipwreck Coast.

Day 6

Merry Christmas
This morning is at your leisure. You may choose to relax at the motel or for those wishing to attend a morning church service, your Coach Captain and Hostess will assist with transfers. Afterwards, enjoy Christmas lunch before a leisurely drive. Stop at the viewing platform for the Southern Right Whale Nursery at Logan’s Beach, taking time to stroll along some of the 5.7km track that makes up Warrnambool’s award winning Foreshore Promenade. Visit the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens designed by William Guilfoyle in 1879, shortly after he completed the Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens. Designed in the classic style, these elegant sheltered gardens feature wide curving paths and ancient trees with the gardens retaining remnants of the original flora on the site. We also visit the Fletcher Jones Gardens (once the site of a quarry) featuring Sir Fletcher Jones’ hawker wagon, a waterfall and a wishing well. Enjoy a light meal to complete our Christmas Day.

Day 7

Warrnambool – Portland
Today learn more about Victoria’s Shipwreck Coast - the final resting place of over 180 wrecks, making for a rich maritime history. Visit Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village, both a museum and an 1870’s village situated on state heritage listed land overlooking Lady Bay. Take a peek at life in the 1870’s to appreciate the customs and trades of the era when our maritime heritage was at its peak. Later, travel on to Portland, the site of Victoria’s first permanent settlement back in 1834 and visit the Portland Maritime Discovery Centre. Being the only deep water port between Melbourne and Adelaide makes it a major centre for the transportation of goods from the surrounding fishing, pastoral and agricultural industries.

Day 8

Warrnambool – Halls Gap
Farewell the Great Southern Ocean and travel north to Dunkeld where we will enter the southern end of the Grampians National Park. This impressive rocky outcrop marks the beginning of the Great Dividing Range. Make sure you have your walking shoes on today as we enjoy magnificent views from Reid’s Lookout, see strange rock formations and view McKenzie’s Waterfall. Visit the Brambuk Cultural Centre where you will gain some insights into the National Park and the Creation Story of Geriward. Create a unique memento of your visit using nature and Aboriginal art as your inspiration. You will have time to purchase your own lunch and enjoy some free time in the park before continuing on to Halls Gap for your overnight stay.

Day 9

Halls Gap – Albury
Today offers scenic touring through picturesque country Victoria. Travel through small country towns and some larger regional cities, taking in the diverse landscape through central Victoria. Stop in Shepparton for lunch before continuing on to Rutherglen for an afternoon stop. Visit the information centre and discover the array of local produce, wines and souvenirs in the extensive gift shop or perhaps spend time viewing some of the masterpieces by local artists in the art gallery. Continue along the Murray Valley Highway before arriving in Albury for our overnight stay.

Day 10

Albury – Goulburn
After breakfast, travel north-east into country New South Wales, stopping at the Gundagai Tourist Information Centre for a fascinating guided town tour including morning tea at the Gundagai Museum. See the Dad, Dave and Mabel copper characters and marvel at the skill displayed in Rosconi’s Marble Masterpiece. This elaborately detailed four-foot high model of an imaginary Baroque Italian palace is carved from 20,948 pieces of local marble which took 28 years to complete. Take time to purchase souvenirs from the information centre, see the famous Dog on the Tuckerbox and enjoy lunch at the Gundagai Services Club. This afternoon, journey on to Goulburn where we will visit the Big Merino, showcasing a diverse collection of luxury products and fashion items created from this versatile fibre. There will also be time to walk through the permanent exhibition - “200 Year History of Wool in Australia”, installed under the giant ram.

Day 11

Goulburn – Heritage Centre – Kingsdale Wines
Today, visit the Goulburn Visitor Information Centre before enjoying a cuppa at the Paragon Cafe. Next, join a guided museum and roundhouse tour at the Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre. See the largest heritage-based working roundhouse in New South Wales, displaying the historic transformation from steam to diesel operation. Built in 1928, it contains a 42 road circular shed with a 90 foot turntable, forming a significant part of the city’s history. Continuing on with the rich local history, this afternoon, visit Garroorigang Historical Homestead, a beautiful privately owned heritage home and enjoy a guided tour through 157 years of living Australian history in the unique setting of a lived-in family home. Return to the motel for dinner.

Day 12

Goulburn – Gosford
Today we travel to Penrith, at the base of the beautiful Blue Mountains, for a visit to Australia’s leading Fire Museum. Most of the guides at the museum are firefighters, both serving and retired. They are sure to entertain you as they bring the displays alive with information and stories. Enjoy a buffet lunch before continuing on to Gosford where we will settle in for two nights. The remainder of the afternoon will be free to relax in preparation for the evening’s festivities. Enjoy dinner at the motel before travelling to Gosford’s Memorial Park for good old family entertainment culminating in a fireworks display.

Day 13

Happy New Year!
Today travel the coastal hinterlands and the picture postcard Yarramalong Valley; travelling along country roads, through rolling hills and river flats. After lunch at the Central Coast Leagues Club, visit the Norah Head Lighthouse built in 1903 by architect Thomas Greenway. Continue touring to The Entrance where there will be opportunity to view the pelican feeding and time will be allowed to wander through the visitor centre and along the boardwalk. Return to the motel for dinner.

Day 14

Gosford – Coffs Harbour
Follow the Pacific Highway north amongst some of Australia’s most beautiful scenery - rainforests and woodlands to the west and ocean glimpses to the east. Stop in the pretty seaside town of Port Macquarie for lunch before heading to Kempsey. Visit the Slim Dusty Centre before continuing on to Coffs Harbour for our overnight stay.

Day 15

Coffs Harbour – Brisbane
After breakfast, our journey is homeward bound. Travel through the subtropical landscape of northern New South Wales to the coastal community of Kingscliff. Enjoy lunch before crossing the border back into Queensland. As we arrive back into Brisbane, your crew will have your transfers arranged.
