Day 1

Home – Sydney – Albury
Our Queensland passengers will fly from Brisbane to Sydney, joining together with fellow travellers from the Hunter, Newcastle and Sydney over morning tea. We will then travel via Goulburn and Gundagai before arriving in Albury late afternoon.

Day 2

Rutherglen
A local guide will introduce us to historical Rutherglen, now famous for its wines and fresh produce. Purchase your own lunch and browse through the historic streetscapes of Rutherglen to
view the ornate period buildings. This afternoon, discover the region’s famous produce during a visit to All Saints Estate and Indigo Cheese Co. and Gooramadda Olives. Late this afternoon visit the Glenrowan Tourist Centre where through the brilliance of animation and computerised robots, you will be transferred back over 100 years to witness the events that led up to the capture of the Kelly Gang.

Day 3

Yackandandah
Step over the original bluestone gutters and see the elaborate façades built in Yackandandah during the 19th century gold rush. Nestled a secluded valley and surrounded by towering
mountains, the town is renowned as being home to many artists and their art. At Sluga Gallery, admire the impressive works of renowned contemporary watercolour artist Charles Sluga. Visit Schmidts, a long established unique Strawberry Winery using traditional family methods to create strawberry wines and liqueurs.

Day 4

Beechworth
After breakfast it’s time to begin our discovery of an area built on the splendour of the early gold rush days. Beechworth is recognised as Australia’s best preserved 19th century gold mining town and features many stately buildings. Following a guided town tour, you’ll have free time to visit the Burke Museum, the Telegraph Station, and the Courthouse where bushranger Ned Kelly was committed. Enjoy lunch at the famous Beechworth Bakery with more time this afternoon to discover this town full of heritage and history.

Day 5

Chiltern – Eldorado – Wangaratta
Following breakfast, travel to Chiltern, a quaint township with carefully preserved streetscapes and historic brick buildings with wooden verandas. Visit National Trust properties and historic buildings such as the Court House and Chiltern Athenaeum Museum, and view the famous grapevine which was planted in 1867 and is the largest vine in the southern hemisphere. This afternoon visit the Eldorado Museum which holds a collection that reflects mining, farming and social history of Eldorado and surrounds between 1850-1950.

Day 6

Wangaratta – Melbourne – Home
After breakfast, it is time to bid a fond farewell to our hosts and journey back into Melbourne. Enjoy a buffet lunch at the Watergardens Hotel before transferring to the airport for your flight
home.
