Day 1
Brisbane - Chinchilla
Your early morning transfers have been arranged for you to join your fellow travellers as we set off for a time of fun and frivolity. Travel north on the Bruce Highway stopping for a guided tour and morning tea at the Gympie Woodworks Museum. Our tour then takes us into the South Burnett town of Murgon for lunch at a local club. Continue on via Wondai, Tingoora, Durong South and Canaga before settling in for the next three nights in Chinchilla.
Day 2
Chinchilla Historical Museum & Melon Day
Chinchilla produces 25% of Australia's melons. Today a farm tour will give us some tips on how to grow the best melons and a town tour will provide some insight into how the non-melon growers prosper in the community. At the Chinchilla Historical Museum, dedicated to the history of transportation, see working steam engines, a rare three cycle cylinder engine and extensive displays of dairy equipment. Tonight enjoy the excitement of the rodeo, with bulls, broncos, saddleback and barrel racing in a big night of country entertainment. Dinner tonight is at your own expense.
Day 3
Melon Festival Day
Today is non-stop melon action all day. With over 20 tonnes of watermelon smashed, eaten and celebrated, prepare yourself for a juicy 2025. There will be markets, arts and crafts, street music and displays of melon-eating skill. Some serious and hilarious highlights include: street procession and floats; pip spitting contests; melon skiing and melon bungy; melon tossing; melon smashing and an afternoon of country music followed by a brilliant fireworks display to end a fantastic and fun filled day.
Day 4
Chinchilla - Brisbane
As we journey homeward bound today, the conversation is sure to reflect a memorable time away. Enjoy a self guided tour of the Bell Catholic Church and relax over morning tea before continuing on to Highfields for lunch. As we arrive back into Brisbane, your Coach Captain and Hostess will have your transfers arranged.
