Day 1
Brisbane - Darwin
Your flight arrives into tropical Darwin early afternoon, where your crew will be waiting to greet you. Visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, overlooking Fannie Bay in Darwin Harbour. The museum features the history, science and visual art of the region and its people, housing what is regarded as some of the best Aboriginal paintings and artefacts in the world. The complex also features a display depicting the experience and aftermath of Cyclone Tracy. Check into our accommodation before relaxing onboard a spectacular dinner cruise on Darwin Harbour. As the sun sets, watch the sky light up in magical colours reflecting off the water and showcasing the coastline of Darwin-a real highlight!
Day 2
Darwin - Knotts Crossing
Our journey takes us south to Litchfield National Park where you'll have the opportunity to soak up the natural surroundings of the Top End and perhaps take a swim at the Wangi Falls-so don't forget your swimwear. Continue on to the small settlement of Adelaide River, once the location for 30,000 Australian and American Soldiers in World War II. Stop for lunch at Adelaide River Inn, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, shady trees and well manicured lawns. Following lunch, continue on via Pine Creek, which first came to prominence during the building of the Overland Telegraph Line, before arriving into Knotts Crossing for our overnight stay.
Day 3
Katherine - Kununurra
A very early start is required today as you prepare to cross the border into Western Australia this afternoon. A break in the journey at Victoria River Roadhouse allows opportunity for you to purchase your own morning tea before continuing on to Timber Creek for lunch. The final leg of today's journey crosses the border, arriving in Kununurra where we will enjoy a two hour flight over the Bungle Bungles, Argyle Diamond Mine and Lake Argyle. From an aircraft it is an imposing sight to see the fascinating geological landscape of this remote region. Later settle into our accommodation for the next two nights.
Day 4
Kununurra - Lake Argyle
Enjoy a relaxing start today before making our way to Lake Argyle Resort for lunch. Cruise from Lake Argyle to Kununurra along the Ord River where you can view the spectacular scenery, birdlife and animals, noting the changing colours on your return journey.
Day 5
Kununurra - Halls Creek
This morning after breakfast, visit Mirima National Park, also commonly known as Hidden Valley National Park, offering short walks that allow you to observe nature, from the broken walls of rock to the variety of plant and animal species. Leaving the beauty of Kununurra behind, we'll head south along the Great Northern Highway stopping for morning tea and lunch along the way. After lunch, we'll travel through rugged countryside to Halls Creek, in the heart of the Kimberley on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, for our overnight stay.
Day 6
Halls Creek - Derby
Today we journey to Fitzroy River Lodge situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River. Relax amongst the natural bush setting and landscaped gardens while enjoying lunch. This afternoon we'll enjoy a cruise through Geikie Gorge, located in the majestic Napier Ranges. Take a walk along the banks of this beautiful waterway and learn of its fascinating history and view its distinct colourful walls scattered with ancient fossils, abundant wildlife and become immersed in its amazing scenery. Suitable clothing for protection from the sun is needed, as are good walking shoes, a hat and water bottle. The rugged wilderness continues through to Derby, a rich pastoral and mineral centre situated beside the waters of King Sound, where we will arrive later than usual for our overnight stay.
Day 7
Derby - Broome
Traverse the Great Northern Highway, passing the Prison Boab Tree, huge termite mounds and the Curtin Air Base. Stop for lunch at Roebuck Plains Roadhouse before continuing on to Broome. Visit to the Malcolm Douglas Wilderness Wildlife Park before checking into our accommodation for the next three nights.
Day 8
Broome Sightseeing
Today offers time to take optional tours and/or enjoy free time. (BD)

Day 10
Broome - Brisbane
After breakfast, we will transfer to Broome Airport to check in for your flight back to the east coast. Today is sure to highlight just how big our country is as we make our way home. On arrival to Brisbane Airport, you will be met by our staff who will have your transfers arranged. (B)
