Day 1
Home - Melbourne - Lakes Entrance
On arrival into Melbourne, you will be welcomed by our friendly crew. Enjoy lunch before travelling via the Latrobe Valley to Lakes Entrance. This beautiful area boasts Australia's largest inland network of waterways and is situated on the edge of Ninety Mile Beach, where the Gippsland Lakes meet the Southern Ocean.
Day 2
Buchan Caves - Winery - Lakes Entrance
Today we discover an underground wonderland of spectacular limestone formations at Buchan Caves. You can choose to take a guided walk, however, towards the end there are quite a number of steps. Alternatively, you may prefer to stroll in the lovely surroundings or sit in the shade of the beautiful trees. Enjoy a picnic lunch before travelling back to Lakes Entrance for a visit to the family owned and operated Wyanga Park Winery for a wine tasting.
Day 3
Lakes Entrance - Mt Hotham - Alpine National Park
Our journey today takes us into the High Country with spectacular views around every turn. You will be delighted by the fertile farmlands, quaint villages and pretty streams. Enjoy morning tea at Swift Creek where your presence will swell this little community dramatically! Continue to Victoria's highest settlement - Mt Hotham. Enjoy lunch while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views 1750m above sea level. This afternoon, we will make our way back to Lakes Entrance with time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 4
Easter Sunday
Happy Easter! This morning you may choose to attend a church service or take a stroll along the esplanade. Late morning we will join back together for lunch before visiting the Griffiths Shell Museum. See the detailed collection of marine and land shells on display; including a complete 10m long coral reef and an aquarium housing Bass Strait sea life. This afternoon, enjoy a sunset cruise on the Gippsland Lakes which will offer many beautiful photo opportunities as the boat glides through the protected waters. Return to your motel for a later than usual dinner.
Day 5
Lakes Entrance - Gippsland Region - Lakes Entrance
After breakfast we will visit some of the beautiful beaches located in the Gippsland region of Victoria's south-eastern coastline. The lakes are separated from the Tasman Sea by a long sand dune which mostly makes up the Ninety Mile Beach, and ultimately forms the largest inland network of waterways in Australia. Enjoy lunch in Sale where the RAAF 'Roulettes' are often practicing their aerobatic manoeuvres in the skies overhead. Continue on to Bairnsdale for a visit and tour of St Marys Catholic Church before returning to our accommodation.
Day 6
Lakes Entrance - Morwell - Home
Today we will farewell the Gippsland area as we head back to Melbourne. Enjoy lunch before boarding your flight home, and on arrival, your transfers will be arranged.
