Day 1
Brisbane - Bunya Mountains
With your transfers all arranged we will set off via the Brisbane Valley, stopping at the Old Fernvale Bakery, where your taste buds are sure to be delighted. Continue on to Nanango for lunch and a stop at the Nanango Peanut Wagon where you can stock up on their delicious products. This afternoon, our journey takes us from the farmland of the South Burnett into the dense forest and lush rainforest of the Bunya Mountains National Park, dominated by towering bunya pines.
Day 2
Bunya Mountains
Today is at your leisure. The Bunya Mountains are known for the world's largest forest of Bunya Pines, panoramic mountain scenes and breath taking views over the southern plains. Brilliantly coloured King Parrots, Crimson Rosellas and Satin Bowerbirds are common sights, as are Red Necked Wallabies and timid Pademelons. Do as little or as much as you like from our program of daily activities, perhaps enjoy a game of cards or a board game, or find a quiet place to read a book. End your day with fireflies flickering against the rainforest, a camp oven dinner, star gazing a million stars across the southern skies and a hot chocolate by the fire.
Day 3
Bunya Mountains
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before venturing out. Take advantage of the many walking tracks or feed the birds. Alternatively you may choose to relax with a book, or find a few friends for a game of cards; the choice is yours. Late afternoon visit the Old School House to view miniature Chocolate Wattle Bats lying out of their ceiling home to go insect hunting in the darkness before enjoying dinner together.
Day 4
Bunya Mountains - Brisbane
It is time to farewell the beauty of the Bunya Mountains and make our way back to Brisbane. After descending the mountain we will visit the Yarraman Heritage Centre which will provide a snapshot of life from the early 1900s and a history of the importance of timber to the district. Following lunch we will continue travelling home via scenic Mt Mee and Dayboro before arriving into the northern suburbs of Brisbane to begin drop offs for your transfers home.
Please note:
Please note accommodation for this tour will be in either Rice's Log Cabins or rooms accessed via stairs, located on the second level of Bunya Mountain Lodge. All rooms are non-serviced with ensuites and reflect the unique nature of The Bunya Mountains.
