Day 1
Home - Adelaide
Your tour begins with a flight to Adelaide, where you will be welcomed by our crew. Travel to Glenelg to purchase your own lunch and wander the main street of this pretty seaside town. This afternoon, we'll visit the site of where Australia's R.M. Williams' empire began and hear the story of the man and his leather work; you may even choose to indulge in a little retail therapy in the shop. Later, settle into our accommodation for the next five nights, before dinner.
Day 2
Adelaide - Goolwa
This morning our journey takes us to Goolwa, a popular holiday town situated on the last bend of the Murray River before it reaches open water. Board the Steam Ranger Heritage Railway for a ride on the Cockle Train, travelling from Goolwa to Victor Harbor along the coastal cliffs of the Fleurieu Peninsula. Next, visit the Fleurieu Marine Education Centre for a guided tour before making our way to Granite Island for a ride on the Horse Drawn Tram across the 630 metre wooden causeway.
Day 3
Mount Lofty - Botanic Gardens - Hahndorf - Hans Heysen
After breakfast we'll spend time in the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, located in the Adelaide Hills. Our next stop is the Mount Lofty Summit, offering panoramic views of the city. Continue on to Hahndorf, which is classified as Australia's oldest surviving German Settlement, taking time to wander the main street. Enjoy lunch at the The Hahndorf Old Mill before continuing on to The Cedars, which houses the studio and art of German born landscape painter Sir Hans Heysen.
Day 4
Happy Easter!
This morning there will be opportunity for those wishing to attend an Easter Sunday church service, or alternatively, the morning is at your leisure. Later, we visit the world's largest open range zoo - Monarto Zoo, home to more than 500 animals and 50 exotic and native mammals, birds and reptiles. It also features many of Africa's most impressive animals and one of Australia's largest lion prides and giraffe herds. Purchase your own lunch today while at the zoo.
Day 5
Adelaide City Touring
After breakfast, a local guide joins us for an insider's tour of Adelaide, discovering its rich history, grand heritage buildings and well-earned reputation as Australia's arts capital. Sit back and relax as we cruise the Karrawirra Parri, gliding through the heart of the city before a guided tour of one of Australia's most iconic sporting venues - Adelaide Oval. Explore behind the scenes, from the players' and umpires' rooms to the heritage scoreboard. This afternoon, visit the magnificent St Peter's Cathedral before travelling to Semaphore Beach for the vibrant Adelaide International Kite Festival. See the sky come alive with colour, twists and twirls as kites of every shape and size dance above the shoreline.
Day 6
Adelaide - Home
Our last morning in Adelaide sees us discovering the South Australian food scene with a guided tour of the iconic Adelaide Central Market. With over 150 years of history, the market is one of the largest undercover fresh produce markets in the Southern Hemisphere and a true foodie paradise. Later, transfer to Adelaide Airport for our flight home, where on arrival, your transfers will be arranged.
