Along the south coast of New South Wales, to the border of Victoria, lies the pristine Sapphire Coast region, boasting untouched beaches, abundant natural beauty and marine wildlife. The idyllic and sheltered location of Merimbula is our setting for three nights, allowing time for relaxing and exploring the surrounding regions, from the famous dairy region of Bega to the spectacular Twofold Bay in Eden. Returning home through Victoria's scenic Gippsland Region.

Day 1

Home - Sydney - Nowra
Our Queensland passengers begin with a flight to Sydney while our Hunter passengers are transferred to meet our coach, being welcomed on board by our friendly crew. After joining all together, we will make our way south, stopping for lunch along the way. This afternoon, we will make a stop at the Kiama Blowhole, before arriving in Nowra for our overnight stay.

Day 2

Nowra - Bega - Merimbula
Today our journey takes us along the coastline to Batemans Bay, and then on to Bega for a visit to the Bega Heritage Centre. This faithful reproduction of the original 'creamery' building constructed in 1899, includes a museum and the 'Spotted Cow' Gallery. Enjoy a cheese tasting and learn about the history of dairying in the Bega Valley before continuing on to Merimbula where we'll settle in for the next three nights.

Day 3

Bombala
After breakfast, take a look inside the old post office and exchange before strolling along Cathcart History Walk and Memorial Wall. Continue on to Bombala, stopping for morning tea at the Riverbank Park before visiting Bombala Platypus Country Information Centre for a talk and viewing of the lavender distillation process. After lunch, return to Merimbula for some free time to explore this popular coastal town before dinner.

Day 4

Whale Watching Cruise and Eden
The Sapphire Coast is known as one of the best whale watching locations in the world. This morning we board our vessel for a cruise on Merimbula Bay, where it's common to find mothers teaching their young calves how to breach, tail slap and dive. This afternoon, enjoy lunch at a local club before visiting the Eden Killer Whale Museum, taking time to learn about the marine life the area is famous for, during a guided tour and hands on experience. Return to our accommodation to freshen up before dinner.

Day 5

Merimbula - Bairnsdale - Sale
Today we farewell our hosts, before making our way to Cann River for a cuppa. Continue on to Lakes Entrance, the gateway to Victoria's famous Gippsland Lakes, for lunch before visiting the Griffith Shell Museum, one of Australia's largest privately owned natural sea life collections. We then take a guided tour of St Mary's Catholic Church, an impressive Romanesque church built at the beginning of the 19th century, featuring murals by Italian artist Francesco Floreani. This afternoon we arrive in Sale for our overnight stay.

Day 6

Sale - Morwell - Home
After breakfast, travel to Morwell, located in the heart of the Latrobe Valley. Visit the PowerWorks Education Centre where we'll gain some insight into the roll the town has had, and continues to have, in the provision of energy in Victoria. Continue on to the award-winning Morwell Centenary Rose Garden before making our way towards Melbourne, enjoying lunch before your flight home.
