Day 1
Home - Sydney - Nowra
Our Queensland passengers begin with a flight while our Hunter passengers are transferred to meet our coach, being welcomed on board by our friendly crew. After joining all together at Sydney Airport, we will make our way south, stopping for lunch along the way. Visit the Kiama Blowhole, and watch as it shoots water into the air with a loud 'oomph' as waves compress the air through the blowhole. Continue on to Nowra for our overnight stay.
Day 2
Nowra - Bega - Merimbula
Today we travel along the coastline to Batemans Bay before continuing to Bega where we will enjoy lunch at the Bega Heritage Centre. The Heritage Centre is a faithful reproduction of the original 'creamery' building constructed in 1899 and includes a museum and 'Spotted Cow' gallery. Enjoy a cheese tasting and talk about the history of dairying in the Bega Valley. This afternoon we will make our way to Merrimbula, a pristine location ideal for relaxing and exploring the surrounding region.
Day 3
Bombala
Look inside the old post office and exchange before taking a stroll along the Cathcart History Walk and Memorial Wall, following the plaques describing the history of this town. Continue on to Bombala where we stop for morning tea at the Riverbank Park before visiting Bombola Platypus Country Information Centre for a talk and viewing of the lavender distillation process. After lunch, return to Merimbula for some free time exploring this beachside town.
Day 4
Eden
Perched on the edge of magnificent Twofold Bay, the third deepest natural harbour in the southern hemisphere, it is no wonder Eden was once considered as a site for Australia's national capital. This morning enjoy a Twofold Bay Discovery Cruise and after lunch, take some time to learn of the marine life the area is famous for, during a guided tour and hands on experiences at the Killer Whale Museum. Return to Merimbula with time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 5
Merimbula - Bairnsdale - Sale
After breakfast we travel the route of South East Australia, stopping at Cann River for morning tea. Continue on to Lakes Entrance, the gateway to Victoria's famous Gippsland Lakes, for lunch. This afternoon we will visit one of Australia's largest privately owned natural sea life collections at the Griffith Shell Museum; here you will see some of the world's rarest and weirdest fish preserved on display. Next we take some time for a guided tour of St Mary's Catholic Church, an impressive Romanesque church built at the beginning of the 19th century. Featuring murals by Italian artist Francesco Floreani, the church attracts more than 80,000 visitors to the church every year. This afternoon we arrive in Sale for our overnight stay.
Day 6
Sale - Morwell - Home
Today our journey takes us to Morwell, a city known for its major energy production centre, for a visit to PowerWorks Education Centre. Here you will gain some insight into the roll the town has and continues to have in the provision of energy in Victoria. Visit the Morwell Centenary Rose Garden before continuing on towards Melbourne, enjoying lunch before your flight home.
