Day 1

Brisbane - Killarney - Stanthorpe
Travel via the Mt Lindesay Highway to Beaudesert for morning tea and the opportunity to browse the art and craft on display at the Community Arts and Crafts Centre. Continue through Rathdowney and into the foothills of Mt Barney, travelling from Woodenbong through Legume and on to Killarney for lunch. This afternoon Queen Mary Falls, part of the Main Range National Park, is our destination. Take time to soak up the beauty of the area and perhaps do one of the bushwalks or view the falls, plunging 40m over Basalt Rocks to the gorge below. Continue on to Thulimbah for a visit to Stanthorpe Cheese, the Granite Belt's original farmhouse cheese makers. A short drive through the apple orchards lead to Stanthorpe, our destination for the next two nights. Our accommodation, on the edge of Stanthorpe, features one bedroom timber cottages set amongst granite boulders and bush land. These rustic cabins have log fireplaces for the cooler nights and a main homestead where we will join together for meals.
