Day 1
Brisbane - Kingaroy
Set off today on this relaxing short break into the South Burnett Region. Travel via the D'Aguilar Highway from Caboolture to Wamuran, an area that has seen much growth and development. Continue through Woodford and Kilcoy taking in the beauty of the picturesque patchwork landscape that surrounds you. Visit the South Burnett Energy Centre in Nanango
before enjoying lunch. Continue on to Kingaroy where we will settle in for the next two nights. After an early dinner, visit the Kingaroy Observatory to discover the beauty of the night sky.
Day 2
Goomeri Pumpkin Festival
After breakfast, travel to Wondai to visit the South Burnett Timber Industry Museum and the Regional Art Gallery before arriving at The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival. The festival was originally set up as a way of improving the town's morale and lagging business economy after a prolonged period of drought. Purchase your own morning tea and lunch from the many market stalls and enjoy all the fun of the festival. Other activities include whip cracking, working dog displays and of course, the famous Pumpkin Roll. Depart late afternoon and return to Kingaroy for dinner at the motel.
Day 3
Kingaroy - Bethany - Brisbane
This morning we will visit Bethany, home of the Bjelke-Petersen family for over 111 years and one of the most famous farms in Australia. Take a tour of the property and see memorabilia of the property and the family's time serving in politics, before enjoying one of the family's famous pumpkin scones. Travel to Coominya for lunch before making our way back to Brisbane where your transfers will be arranged.
