Day 1
Brisbane - Inverell
Travel via the southern Darling Downs to the border town of Texas for lunch. Witness some very scenic countryside as we make our way to Cranky Rock Nature Reserve, featuring a fascinating jumble of granite boulders balanced at the edge of Reedy Creek. This afternoon, arrive in Inverell where we will settle in for the next three nights.
Day 2
Inverell Sightseeing
After a hearty breakfast we start our day with a local guide who will share their knowledge of this amazing town. A visit to the Information Centre will provide some more insight about the area known for its Sapphires and other gems. Located within the centre is Billabong Sapphires where you will learn about this precious stone and see some localy found gems. You will also have the opportunity to purchase some stunning jewellery if you choose! Later, stroll through the Inverell Pioneer Village where you will discover some of the district's authentic buildings and homes which date back to 1841. Enjoy morning tea and visit the Photographic and Camera Museum, the Blacksmith Shop and the Mining Museum - just to name a few. Enjoy some freetime in town and the opportunity to purchase your own lunch. We then head to New England Wood Turning where Rob will enthral you with his passion and expertise in wood turning. Browse the showroom and be amazed what can be made from a humble piece of wood. This afternoon, we will return to our motel with time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 3
Inverell Sightseeing
Today we visit the Transport Museum which is home to over 120 vehicle exhibits, including a 1906 Dayton which is believed to be the only one left in the world. Visit the Inverell Art Gallery where they are regularly changing exhibits, making it the perfect place to browse for a unique gift with a large range of arts and crafts by local artists. We then make our way to lunch before visiting a local winery where our hosts will guide us through their range during a tasting.
Day 4
Inverell - Brisbane
The scenic countryside continues today as we bid a fond farewell to Inverell and journey back home. Travel via Glen Innes and the New England Highway to Warwick for lunch. This afternoon, arrive back into Brisbane where on arrival, your transfers will be arranged.
